My Story
Hello and welcome. My name is Dina Flannery, and I’m a professional caregiver and certified end-of-life Doula with over 30 years of experience in compassionate service. My journey began as a hairdresser, where I spent decades forming lasting relationships with clients—many of whom became like family. Over time, and through caring for my own loved ones at the end of life, I was called to walk beside others during life’s most vulnerable and meaningful transitions.
I’m a proud mother of three grown children and a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren. I find peace in gardening, music, the outdoors, and quiet moments with my family. But the path that led me here hasn’t been easy—it’s one that shaped me in the most humbling and profound ways.
For over 15 years, I lived with a rare and undiagnosed pituitary tumor that caused years of unexplained illness. The toll it took on my body and mind was devastating—so extreme that I was often unable to get out of bed. I suffered from debilitating fatigue, bone pain, and weakness. Over time, the tumor caused multiple fractures throughout my body, eventually confining me to bed rest. Anxiety and depression crept in, and I mourned the loss of the life I once lived—especially not being able to be fully present for my children when they needed me most.
That experience gave me a deep and lasting understanding of what it means to live with chronic pain, invisible illness, and the emotional weight of feeling like a burden. It opened my eyes—and my heart—to the kind of care we all deserve during difficult times: care rooted in empathy, dignity, and presence.
I also work alongside my beloved German Shepherd, Willow. At 8 years old, she has become a calming, comforting presence in my care work. Her gentle spirit has brought joy and healing to countless clients—especially those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Some even request visits with Willow for the peace and companionship she provides. She is truly a gift to this work.
Today, I bring those lessons into every life I touch—with presence, gentleness, and respect. I am a certified End-of-Life Doula and professional caregiver, trained through the DoulaGivers Institute, where I received specialized education in holistic, compassionate care for the dying and their loved ones.It would be my honor to support you or your loved one—wherever you are on your journey—with compassion, tenderness, and heart.
